"In
1968 the Fram Junior Lodge was formed to kindle an interest in Norwegian
heritage among the youth. This made the Grand Forks lodge a family-oriented
organization. Junior lodge members have repeatedly performed in
programs and folk dancing, and have carried out projects to enhance
their culture and tradition."

The
Junior Lodge gathers each month to learn about the culture
of Norway. Folk dancing, singing, crafts, language, folklore
and skits are some of the activities through which we celebrate
our heritage. A Jr. Lodge Director can do what seemed to me
impossible to do in a narrative, a TV show, or even by watching
someone else dance & sing. It would be an excellent thing
if at last, through the dramatization, handwork & only
a small vocabulary with a rough feeling for simple rhythm
the Jr. Lodge children should come to sufficient understanding
and enthusiasm to turn skalds and compose songs in the Norse
manner.
Der
stod han ved stranden med tårer på sitt kinn,
hans såre brøl ble kun besvart av nattens kalde
vind.
Han tittet bort på veien - så la han seg på
svøm,
og dukker sikkert opp igjen
i andre gutters drøm. ---- Puff - den lille......

The
repertoire of the social and cultural program for the Jr Lodge
has included the songs "Alle
fugler små" and "Jeg
gikk en tur"; two marches; two dances, the
Klappdans and Sekmansril, and "Hurra
for deg".
Hurra for deg som fyller ditt år!
Ja, deg vil vi gratulere!
Alle i ring omkring deg vi står,
og se, nå vil vi marsjere,
bukke, nikke, neie, snu oss omkring,
danse for deg med hopp og sprett og spring,
ønske deg av hjertet alle gode ting!
Si meg så, hva vil du mere?
Høyt våre flagg vi svinger. Hurra!
Ja, nå vil vi riktig feste!
Dagen er din, og dagen er bra,
men du er den aller beste!
Se deg om i ringen, hvem du vil ta!
Dans en liten dans med den du helst vil ha!
Vi vil alle sammen svinge oss så glad:
En av oss skal bli den neste!

UNGE
VENNER
MEMBERS
(Constitution
article 134 h )
Members 16 to 23 shall have a reduced rate dues.
|
The
repertoire for the Unge Venner Members may include learning
rosemaling, costumes, landscapes, houses, feast halls, and
ships, or carving a ship's-head, or a copper shield, or a
wrought door-nail. The Norsemen, with the crude courage and
the strange adventures that make a person interesting, at
the same time have the love of truth, the hardy endurance,
the faithfulness to plighted word, that make them a child's
fit companions.

Hva
er déjà vu?
A Norway Adventure, for a child

which has happened to you before.
